Flatlandia is a database, gameboard and series of installations that link together the properties of images with the properties of spaces. Image spaces are either environments you cannot inhabit because they only function as an image (i.e. a storefront window) or conversely images that actually foster inhabitation (i.e. an interactive webcam image of an interior). They are places that act as though they are in a dimension other than their own. Typically, space is deep and the image is flat. In Flatlandia, the opposite is explored – images have dimensions giving us room to move within them and spaces are missing dimensions only allowing us to look at them.
