The proposed workshop aims to provide participants, media artists, the opportunity to learn new skills related to design and creation of new media works.

Participants will learn to develop their own electronic tools. In particular, it will be an opportunity to develop and deepen their knowledge of electronic circuit design and computer programming required to create interactive electronic works.

First, participants will learn the basics of electronics, then they will learn to design their own electronic circuits and connect them with various hardware, for instance motors, lights or sensors. They will have the opportunity to learn to build and program their own Arduino microcontrollers. Also, they will learn Fritzing – Open Source Software for designing and drawing electronic circuits to produce printed circuit board. Through workshops, artists’ works using these technologies will be presented and discussed. Overall, participants will have the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the possibilities of electronic control systems in media arts and to develop technical expertise needed to create complex works in new interactive media.

Participants will be invited to work on their own projects and develop them during the workshop. They may will have the opportunity to develop one or more aspects of their own artistic practice and expand their scope of practice.
