Come and celebrate with us the 1 000 046th Arts’s Birthday on Saturday, January 17th.

Art’s Birthday is an annual event first proposed in 1963 by French Fluxus artist Robert Filliou. He suggested that 1,000,000 years ago, there was no art. But one day, on the 17th of January to be precise, Art was born. Since then, every year Art’s Birthday has been a special occasion bringing together artists and communities worldwide to present international events and network art happenings, and, by eating cake and offering gifts to Art.

To mark the event, Studio XX joins CKUT and will offer a musical-noise performance by the Unstrument Workshop, directed by Darsha Hewitt and featuring Helena Martin Franco, K.G. Guttman, Caroline Martel, Christiane Patenaude, Hélène Prévost and Nancy Tobin.

The festivities will begin at 8pm with an art-cake contest featuring several local galleries (Studio XX, OBORO, la Centrale, La Banque and more…). The performance will start at 9pm sharp with Glenn Lewis reenacting Robert Filliou’s original Birth of Art performance which Studio XX’s Unstrument Workshop will join.

For those unable to attend the event, tune it to get it live at CKUT 90.3FM.

Organized by CKUT Radio McGill
