* STEP 2 : APPLICATION *
Your First Person Digital proposal should include the following critical sections. These guiding questions should help shape and focus your application.

1) Statement of Intent (why)
2) Team (who is making it)
3) Description of your Project (story)
4) Target Audience (who it’s for)
5) Interactivity (how the audience will interact with it)
6) Financial Details
7) Distribution and Impact
8) Other

What are the deep personal reasons why you want to make this project? How is this project a natural next step in your personal and professional path? What is the impact you hope to have? Why are you uniquely qualified to produce with the NFB and Studio XX through the First Person Digital program? How will your project fit with the NFB’s and Studio XX’s value systems?

Who is leading the project? Who is supporting the project and in what roles? How is collaboration defined for your team? How is editorial control exercised? Who has the final say? What is the history of previous collaborations? What makes this the ‘dream team’ if you are working together for the first time? What past experiences—personal or professional—will you and your team be drawing upon during production?
List the names of key team members (maximum 3) and summarize highlights of their relevant experience, up to 4 key credits per team member. (Include names of creative leads, technical leads, writers, mentors etc.)

What is the story? How is it unique? What is the social impact your project may contribute to or help bring about? Be specific! What is the most compelling and outstanding part of this project? What media will you be using to tell your story? What format will your story be presented in? Are you inspired by other projects or formats you have encountered, or are you striking out in a new direction? Describe the design (site architecture, navigation, graphic design, interactivity, creative elements). Describe the technology to be used in production and outreach. Describe the project development to date.

While your project may attract a large audience, who is the primary audience for this project? Be as specific as you can: age, gender, economic status, educational level, cultural community, etc. Are there niche audiences you are aiming to reach? What is your personal and professional relationship to the communities you hope to reach? How do you envision a dialogue happening between yourself, your project and your target community? Describe the audience outreach/market research undertaken. How does your project compare with other similar projects?

When your biggest fan finds your project, how will they interact with it? What can they do? In what ways does your project engage the user both passively (watching, listening, reading) and actively (commenting, playing, uploading, creating, remixing, sharing)? What is the individual’s incentive to participate and interact?

Is the scope of this project scalable (alpha and beta phases, other phases to be developed later?) Can it be created in 8 months with a budget of 5k -25k? Identify the risk factors. What risk areas does the feasibility of the production rely on (for example, key participant consent, access to participants/information/locations central to your project, new technology)

Projects retained for First Person Digital will have distribution on NFB.ca and at the HTMlles Festival. What are other platforms or opportunities for visibility do you envision for your project?
