The Laboratory

Policy for Access to Technical Facilities and Equipment

The following are rules administered by the general director, the production director and technician. Please follow all protocols of
the lab when using our computers.

Lab Costs

The lab is free to members. The general public may use the lab at the following costs:

• 1 day 15$

• 1 week 65$

• 1 month 150$

Lab Use Information

• The Studio XX lab, containing iMac Intel OS X and Linux Dualboot workstations are available to members free of charge.

• The resource library containing books, workshop notes and handouts, and
fact sheets is available to members free of charge.

• The hours of opening are: Tuesday to Thursday 10h -17h. You may call in
advance (514- 845-7934) to book your workstation or drop in during the
hours of opening.

• Please record your information in the LAB SIGN-IN BOOK each time you use the lab.

• It is strictly FORBIDDEN TO EAT, DRINK OR SMOKE in the lab. There is a
fine of $25 for those found breaking these rules and access to the lab
may be denied to such persons for a period of six (6) months.

• The free lab does not include cd-burning or printing. Both of these services are available at a cost of $5.00 per session for CD burning and $0.10 per page for printing.

• None of the Studio XX equipment leave the premises, that includes the books in the resource library.

- Memory :2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB - Graphics Memory :NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600 GT w/256 - Hard Drive :250GB Serial ATA Drive

- Optical Drive :SuperDrive 8X (DVDR-DL/CD-RW) - Ports USB et firewire - Audio support (headphones) - Login: each machine logs in automatically to the “atelier” user. no password is needed.

- linux = UbuntuStudio (Gimp, Blender, Audacity, Ardour et bien plus)

- proprietary software : MAX/MSP/jitter sur OSX et graveurs DVD Dual Layer

- Printer – Black and white Laserjet 4500 ($0.10/page) 

Connecting to the workstations in the lab

Each member of Studio XX has a personal username and password that allows them to use their own personal space on our server as well as connecting to our website.
